Teeth Whitening Kits
As the demand for teeth whitening kits has expanded, a larger number of products have emerged into the marketplace. This is a good thing in the sense that it provides healthy competition and consumer choice, but as is so often the case with dental products in general (and at home teeth whitening products in specific), the problem is that you are likely just going to choose one based purely on how well you like the packaging. There is very little information available to the consumer about how well a specific teeth whitening kit will work for you, or even how it works.
Unless that product that you choose fails miserably, why would you ever buy another one? And if you do buy one that fails to produce results, you’ll likely be turned off on teeth whitener kits entirely. Since there was no functional difference in your mind between any two products, you can only conclude that teeth whiteners don’t work as advertised.
Professional Teeth Whitening Kits
Many people don’t realize that if you go to the dentist and ask to have your teeth whitened, you will likely not end up sitting in the dentists’ chair to have the whitening performed. Chances are good that the dentist will simply sell you a profession quality whitening kit that you can use at home. These usually involve custom-made dental trays that the dentist will make for you in the office. You will then take the tray home, fill it with the special whitening product, and wear it for X number of minutes per day until you are happy with the results.
Many people maintain that the kits you get at the dentist work the best, because the tray is custom made and they provide you with the best teeth whitening gel on the market. This may or may not be true; the fact is that there are new systems on the market which do not require a trip to the dentist at all. Many use the same whitening ingredients that your dentist would use. Some of these even allow you to have a custom dental tray made just for your mouth, and all for a lot less than you would end up paying the dentist. I mean a lot less. At Home Teeth Whitening Kits
At home whitening kits range from the high-powered system we mentioned above all the way to your basic crest whitestrips. There are many products that lie somewhere in betweeen, including a variety which come equipped with moldable foam or plastic dental trays, which you can customize to fit your mouth at home.
The problem with many of these home teeth whitening kits is that the trays don’t work very well, and in many cases the gel that comes with them is not as powerful as the average consumer expects. This results in substandard results and people who come to believe that at home whitener kits just don’t work.
Strangely, the crest whitestrips tend to outperform the systems that come with their own dental trays. The big problem with them is that they are not big enough to wrap all the way around your front teeth, so when you smile there will be yellower teeth showing. In contrast with the whitened teeth, they will look a little grungier than you’d like. Other than that, the strips work pretty well. But the best teeth whitening kits are the professional-quality home whitening systems.
